Who Goes There (AKA “Wally”)
Wally was purchased at the Fairmount Park Paddock Sale on Saturday, August 24th. He was foaled on March 29, 2001 (an Aries!) so he is a 7 year old dark bay gelding (neutered male). His sire was Afternoon Deelites and his mare was Shimmering Lace. Wally was the second horse that came into the sale ring and wow is he a good looking boy. He walked without any sign of injury. We were the only bidders on Wally. We trailered Wally to the barn and the very next day Wally could barely put any weight on his left front leg. Dr. Allen Mueller of Waterloo Animal Hospital in Waterloo Illinois, came out and x-rayed Wally where we found Wally to have a bone chip, a suspensory tear and a seismoid bone break (yes, all 3!) in that leg. Wally's in a cast now while we have stabilize his injured leg. Soon we will move him to the university for surgery to put his leg back together so he may rejoin life as a healthy riding horse. We need to raise funds for Wally's surgery to the tune of around $3000.00. If you would like to donate the money for the surgery or make a donation for his daily care or future surgery please visit the How to Help page. Thank you for your kindness and Wally thanks you for giving him a second chance!
